Horgelus is a long-established domaine in the Gers, in the heart of Gascony in south-west France — the native home of Gros Manseng, a white grape of compelling character and versatility. In the right hands, Gros Manseng produces wines of real freshness and aromatic complexity, and Horgelus is widely regarded as one of the appellation’s benchmark producers.

Pale gold with a fresh, expressive nose of pear, apricot, citrus blossom, and a hint of spice. Dry on the palate — or just off-dry — with vibrant acidity, good texture, and a long, fruity finish. Versatile and food-friendly: excellent with seafood, grilled fish, Asian dishes, or simply as a refreshing aperitif. A grape variety worth knowing, from a producer who does it justice.

Yoan Le Menn

Domaine Horgelus was created in 1978 by Yoan's father, Joseph Le Menn. Breton by origin, he was attracted by the charm of the South West, its gastronomy and its art of living. The domaine is located on a sunny hillside in Gascony, an area renowned primarily for the production of Armagnac, but has now gained a reputation for excellent red and white wines. This progression started in the 1980's, thanks, largely, to producers like the Le Menn family, who strive to make wines with freshness and ripe fruit flavours as their most important features. He is dedicated to preserving the aroma of the wines by preventing any form of oxidation during vinification. For this reason, grapes are harvested early in the morning, from 3 am 'til 11, ensuring no freshness is lost in the heat of the midday sun. These lovely fresh fruit flavours are the essence of Domaine Horgelus.
