Everything we do comes back to one belief: that people should drink wine better.

Not more expensively. Not more impressively. Better — in the way that matters. Wine that is first and foremost delicious. Wine that is honest about what it is and where it comes from. Wine that brings people together and makes a table feel like somewhere worth sitting.

That belief is why Wines Direct exists.

Why we started

In 1991, Paddy and Siobhan Keogh began importing wine directly from small producers in Bordeaux. Not because it was cheaper. Because it was better — and because they wanted to know exactly where it came from, who made it, and why it tasted the way it did. That curiosity became a company. That company became a way of life.

What "direct" really means

Direct doesn't mean a discount. It means a relationship.

Over more than 35 years, we've built connections with our winemakers that now span two generations. We know them. They are our friends. We've walked their vineyards, learned their soils, sat at their tables, and watched their families grow alongside ours. When you open a bottle from Wines Direct, that story is in it.

That directness also gives you something no supermarket shelf can: traceability rooted in trust. We know how the wine was grown, how it was made, and — crucially — what was left out. Because drinking better also means drinking wine that isn't an enhanced chemical equation. Our producers farm with respect for their land. The wine they make reflects the place it came from, not a formula designed in a laboratory.

What we believe wine should be

Wine should be delicious above all else. It should be enjoyable — something that doesn't require a dictionary or a degree to appreciate. And it should be hospitable, a reason to gather, to share, to slow down and be generous with the people around you.

We've never believed wine should be intimidating. The best bottles we've ever drunk were ones where nobody was performing — where the wine was just quietly, completely right for the moment.

What we want for you

We want to bring you on a journey you can believe in. Beyond the familiar labels and the supermarket deals, there's a world of small, independent winemakers who put everything into what they grow and what they make. We've spent over 35 years finding them, earning their trust, and carrying their wines to your door.

Drinking better isn't about spending more. It's about knowing more — about where your wine comes from, the hands that made it, and the land it belongs to.

That's what Wines Direct has always been. That's what we'll always be.
