Tertre Roteboeuf St Emilion Grand Cru AOC 2017

The 2017 opens with lifted red and black fruit — wild cherry, raspberry, red plum — layered with violets, sweet spice, cedar, and that unmistakable roasted-cocoa warmth Mitjavile is known for. The bouquet is elegant, expressive, and more high-toned than richer vintages like 2015 or 2018.

On the palate, it’s medium-bodied with silky texture and a graceful, gliding structure. Red fruit leads again, joined by pomegranate, cherry skin, subtle mocha, and a graphite edge that gives definition. The tannins are refined and feathered, and the acidity brings clarity and movement rather than weight.

The finish is long, savoury, and aromatic, echoing spice, red plum, and tobacco. This is Tertre Roteboeuf at its most precise and Burgundian in spirit — less opulent, more transparent, still unmistakably itself.
