Tahbilk is one of Australia's oldest and most storied wineries, established in 1860 on the banks of the Goulburn River in Central Victoria. This historic property has been in the Purbrick family for over a century, and their Cabernet Sauvignon remains one of the great traditional expressions of the variety from the Australian mainland.
Deep ruby with classic Tahbilk character: blackcurrant, cedar, dried herbs, and earthy notes underpinned by firm but fine tannins. This is an honest, unfussy Cabernet that rewards patience — built to age but approachable young with hearty food. Excellent with roast lamb, char-grilled beef, or mature cheddar. Alister Purbrick
The man behind Four Sisters and Tahbilk, Alister Purbrick is one of the best-known winemakers in Australia. The Purbricks are founding members of Australia's First Families of Wine, an exclusive group of uniquely historic wineries. Tahbilk was established in 1860 in the Nagambie Lakes region of central Victoria. The property lies on fertile river flats along the Goulburn River. The name 'Tahbilk', rather appropriately, directly translates to 'place of many waterholes'. Today, Alister works closely with his daughter Hayley to bring a carbon-neutral strategy to the winemaking and viticulture at Tahbilk. Hayley is the fifth generation of the Purbrick family to make wine at Tahbilk.
