The vintage 2020 marks the new signature of Père Pape under a blend of 100% Grenache from very old vines planted on the plots of Crau, Bédines and Boisdauphin.
Le Père Pape is an ample wine with a velvet texture which authentically reflects the great terroirs of rolled pebbles and sand on which it takes root. These plots house century-old vines planted just after the phylloxera period and produce small yields. Aging for 24 months in tuns and amphorae brings balance and complexity to this cuvée.
Scoring 95 points from Wine Enthusiast, this is Châteauneuf-du-Pape at its most soulful — warming notes of blackcurrant and spices give way to a palate that combines finesse and power, with fine-grained, coated tannins and a finish that lingers long after the glass is empty. One of the appellation's most celebrated domaines, also praised by Jancis Robinson and Decanter.
