Domaine des Remizières is a family estate in the northern Rhône, producing wines from some of the finest appellations along this celebrated stretch of the river — including Crozes-Hermitage, the broad appellation surrounding the iconic Hermitage hill. Philippe Desmeure farms with great care and attention, and his Crozes-Hermitage is consistently one of the better-value reds from the northern Rhône.
Made from 100% Syrah, this is a wine of real northern Rhône character: deep ruby with aromas of dark plum, olive, cracked pepper, and a meaty, savoury edge. Medium-to-full bodied with firm tannins and a long, mineral finish. A natural partner for roast lamb, venison, duck confit, or a charcuterie board.

Phillippe Desmeure
Philippe Desmeure is the third generation of his family to operate the property, but 1996 was the first vintage he controlled. The estate owns vineyards in Hermitage and Crozes Hermitage ranging in age from 20 to over 60 years of age. Philippe knows how to make the most out of his terroir, and his well-equipped cellar. In minimising the skin contact, controlling the temperature during the fermentation and then leaving the wine in oak for 6-8 months before bottling, Philippe achieves a typical Crozes-Hermitage, which is aromatic, supple and full of characteristic Syrah with smoky hints. The Wine Advocate’s Robert Parker declared Philippe Desmeures to be one of his Wine Personalities of the Year. "Desmeures has become one of the superstars of Hermitage in less than three or four years. Lower yields, riper fruit and wines fashioned in the most unmanipulated and natural way as possible has allowed him to exploit some great terroirs. His wines are among the finest of Hermitage and Crozes Hermitage."
