Bret Brothers — Jean-Guillaume and Jean-Philippe Bret — are celebrated natural winemakers from the Mâconnais whose wines appear on Michelin-starred wine lists across Europe. Their Brouilly comes from the southernmost and largest of the Beaujolais crus: rolling, granite-flecked hills where Gamay produces its most generous, deeply-coloured expression.
Deep ruby with a rich, inviting nose of dark cherry, blackberry, floral violet, and a mineral, granitic note. Medium-to-full bodied for Beaujolais, with plush tannins and a long, satisfying finish — this is Brouilly with real substance. Biodynamic farming, indigenous yeasts, and minimal intervention in the cellar: the result is a wine of energy and purity. Serve slightly cool with duck, grilled lamb, mushroom dishes, or charcuterie.

Jean-Phillipe and Jean-Guillaume Bret
Jean-Guillaume and Jean-Philippe Bret loved coming for holidays to their grandparents' vineyard as children. This love led them to decide to study viticulture and oenology. Having gained experience in the wider wine world for eight years, they returned to Burgundy and took over La Soufrandiere in 2000. They started their own label, Bret Brothers, in 2001. Their ambitious objective adheres to rigorous specifications, using small plots of old vines farmed by passionate vignerons on specific terroirs. This allows them to choose the best grapes from the soils they wish to express. The commissioned grapes are hand-harvested by the two brothers themselves. Many of the vines are old, with some up to 50 years of age. This drives the intensity of flavour that they consistently produce.
