Beaujolais is a region experiencing a remarkable renaissance! Long considered the black sheep of the Burgundian family, there's some debate over whether it should be counted as part of Burgundy at all. Whether it is or it isn’t, we love a bit of Beaujolais here in Wines Direct, and our team have spent several weekends hunting down the finest the region has to offer.The north of Beaujolais boasts ancient granitic and sandy soils, perfect for producing the region's renowned Gamay variety with its unique characteristics. In contrast, the southern part of the region features golden rocks and marl soil, more akin to Burgundy. The wines produced here are easy-drinking and delightfully fun, making them the perfect choice for a cheerful gathering!
