Bolmida Barolo 'Bussia' Barolo DOC Italy
Bolmida Barolo 'Bussia' Barolo DOC Italy
SKU 11478
31 in stock
Silvano Bolmida farms the Bussia vineyard in Barolo — one of the Langhe's most celebrated sites, producing Nebbiolo of extraordinary concentration and complexity. This is a wine that rewards patience: firm and structured, but already showing the layered character that marks great Barolo.
Only 2,000 bottles produced annually. Silvano's work has been in our cellar for years — he is the real thing.

Silvano Bolmida's Barolo Bussia is fabulous. Rich, complex and dynamic, the wine opens with macerated cherry, cinnamon, new leather, tobacco, incense and rose petal. I especially admire how the Bussia develops in the glass, revealing new shades of nuance with each taste, always a signature of a great wine.

Silvano Bolmida
Silvano Bolmida is one of the new breed in Monforte. Now almost forty years old, he worked for ten years as an enologist for another winery in Barolo before taking over the business founded by his father and mother, and now seeks to improve on what was already a standard. The estate is relatively small and production was never big to begin with. One major decision by Silvano Bolmida was to drastically reduce yields by performing a green harvest in June, and to use organic winegrowing practices in the vineyards, without the need for pesticides or chemical fertilizers. At harvest time the grapes are given a fairly long skin contact, and then are aged in cask (tonneaux) or in barriques, on the lees, for over a year prior to bottling.
