Anyone can sell you a case of wine. Here's what we do instead

We import directly. We bond our own stock. We get the best price. Then we do something more useful.

You probably already know the basics of how Wines Direct works. We import directly from small, independent producers, people who make wine with a point of view, not a volume target. We have a direct relationship with the winemakers themselves. We bond our own wines. No unnecessary steps in the chain, no costs we can't account for.
That structure matters because it allows us to secure the best possible price and pass those savings directly to the venues we work with. That's not marketing. That's just how the numbers work when you cut out the middle.
But price was never the whole story.

The bit most people don't see

Anyone can sell a case of wine. It's not complicated. You list it, you invoice it, you move on to the next account.
We're not particularly interested in that version of the relationship.
What we want to understand is your business, how your list is positioned, who your customers are, what they're ordering, and what they're leaving on the table. Because if we understand that, we can help you sell better. And when you sell better, your customers drink better. And when your customers drink better, they spend more, they come back, and they tell someone.
That's the outcome we're working towards. Yours and theirs.

What that looks like in practice

Split cases. Committing to a full case of something untested is a real barrier to keeping a list interesting. We remove it. Trial a few bottles, see how it lands, then decide. Your list stays fresh. Your stock stays lean.

Staff education. The best wine list in the room means nothing if the person taking the order can't talk about it. We run sessions with front-of-house teams built around your actual list, not generic wine theory, but the specific bottles you're pouring and the story behind them. A confident recommendation at the table sells the second glass almost every time.

Market knowledge. We've been in this market since 1991. We track what's moving, what consumers are shifting towards, and where the on-trade is heading before it becomes obvious. That intelligence is something we share. It helps you react when you need to and plan before you have to.

Coming up

Over the next few weeks, we'll be going deeper on each of these, with venues who've used them properly and what it means for their business in real terms.
