San Polino Brunello di Montalcino
San Polino Brunello di Montalcino
SKU 12233
63 in stock
Taking its name from an aromatic wild herb found growing in its high-altitude vineyards, the Helichrysum is San Polino's flagship Brunello di Montalcino — and one of the most distinctive wines from the southern slopes of Montalcino. Made from old-vine Sangiovese Grosso, it combines the power and structure expected of Brunello with unusual aromatic precision.
Full-bodied with firm tannins and flavours of black cherry, plum, iron, dried herbs, and a hint of spice. Long and elegant, with the cut of acidity that defines great Brunello.
Scoring 93 points from Wine Advocate (Monica Larner) for the 2016 vintage and selected as one of Walter Speller's top 2019s at JancisRobinson.com, San Polino is a benchmark small-producer Brunello — biodynamically farmed, spontaneously fermented, and aged in large oak casks.
