Haut Rian is a reliable estate in the Côtes de Bordeaux, producing a classic Right Bank-style blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc with the restraint and structure the appellation is known for. The half-bottle format is ideal when a full bottle is more than you need — two generous glasses, or a single bottle-sized glass if you're that way inclined.
Cassis and plum on the nose with a hint of cedar; medium-bodied on the palate with soft tannins and a clean, balanced finish. Exactly what you want from an everyday Bordeaux.

Pauline Dietrich
Pauline Dietrich is the second generation of her family to make wine at Château Haut Rian, but her pedigree as a vigneron goes back much further. Her parents, Michel and Isabelle Dietrich, come from traditional winemaking backgrounds. Michel's family are winemakers from Alsace, and Isabelle's ancestors are an old Champagne family. Before starting Château Haut Rian in 1988, Pauline's father set off to build on his family winemaking experience and oenological qualifications, spending seven years working in an Australian winery. This diverse experience in the distinct regions of Alsace and Australia made Michel a very skilful artisan. It's this skill that allows Château Haut Rian to produce a range of meticulously made wines at a great price.
