Hot vintage, yes — but Mitjavile handles heat better than almost anyone in Bordeaux. Domaine de Cambes 2020 is sleek, ripe, and brilliantly balanced, with that slow-building depth that tells you the old vines were completely unbothered.

The 2020 erupts with ripe blackberry, black plum, blueberry compote, and spiced damson, wrapped in warm tobacco, cocoa, and that unmistakable roasted-sweet Mitjavile signature. There’s a darker, more brooding tone than 2018 or 2019 — a sense of depth that hints at the power underneath the polish.

On the palate it’s rich but never heavy, carrying Mitjavile’s trademark silkiness. Waves of black fruit — cassis, plum, mulberry — glide over fine, ripe tannins. There’s impressive freshness for the vintage too, giving the wine shape and lift. Mid-palate you get mocha, cedar, sweet spice, and a touch of graphite, all unfolding with calm, unhurried confidence.

The finish is long, warming, and savoury-sweet, reinforcing just how far this wine sits above its appellation.
