Chateau Cazebonne Petnat Gaz'bonne - Bordeaux, France

Gaz'bonne is a surprisingly authentic Petnat with Sémillon as its dominant grape variety. A light, non-aggressive bubble, with slightly brioche notes due to ageing on lees, almost honeyed... The palate is creamy and textured, with a clean finish of elegant bitter notes that prolong the taste experience.

Jean-Baptiste Duquesne
Château Cazebonne is a 30-hectare estate in Graves, Gironde, that was taken over by winemaker Jean-Baptiste Duquesne in 2016. The property is managed using organic and biodynamic practices, producing wines with minimal inputs and a focus on expressing a diverse palette of six distinct geological terroirs, including limestone, deep gravel, silt, and clay. A central part of the estate's mission since 2017 has been the replantation of historical Bordeaux grape varieties from the 19th century, with 60 varieties currently being reintroduced through an on-site conservatory. The domain offers twenty different cuvées aged in a variety of vessels such as vats, large 500-litre barrels, and amphorae to ensure the wood never dominates the fruit. Their white wines undergo malolactic fermentation for a richer profile, while the flagship "Comme en 1900" range celebrates these ancestral grapes. This commitment to quality and historical preservation earned the estate its first star in the 2024 Guide des meilleurs vins de France.
