Bret Brothers — Jean-Guillaume and Jean-Philippe Bret — are among the most respected natural winemakers in the Mâconnais, farming biodynamically and crafting wines that have earned places on some of the world's finest wine lists. Men in Bret is their free-range Vin de France cuvée: a delicious, irreverent natural wine that plays by its own rules.
Made from Gamay and possibly other varieties from the brothers' own or partner vineyards, this is a wine designed for pure pleasure: juicy, vibrant, and full of character. Expect bright red fruit, a hint of spice, and the kind of easy, alive quality that good natural wine delivers when it's done well. Serve lightly chilled for maximum enjoyment — with charcuterie, grilled chicken, pizza, or simply an impromptu gathering.

Jean-Phillipe and Jean-Guillaume Bret
Jean-Guillaume and Jean-Philippe Bret loved coming for holidays to their grandparents' vineyard as children. This love led them to decide to study viticulture and oenology. Having gained experience in the wider wine world for eight years, they returned to Burgundy and took over La Soufrandiere in 2000. They started their own label, Bret Brothers, in 2001. Their ambitious objective adheres to rigorous specifications, using small plots of old vines farmed by passionate vignerons on specific terroirs. This allows them to choose the best grapes from the soils they wish to express. The commissioned grapes are hand-harvested by the two brothers themselves. Many of the vines are old, with some up to 50 years of age. This drives the intensity of flavour that they consistently produce.
