Margaux Arbo
The Arbo we know today began in 1900 when Margaux & Dorian’s great-great-great grandfather, Arnuad Puyanche, began producing sweet white wines with the abundance of Semillon vines on the land. Bordeaux in the early 20th century was renowned for its sweet whites, so Semillon and Sauvignon vines prospered throughout the region. When the second generation began at Arbo in 1918, many of the white Semillion & Sauvignon vines had been destroyed during the Russian invasion and were replanted with Merlot. The remaining white vines were sold to the local co-op. Bernadette and Joseph took over and aimed to restore the vineyard to its natural state. Arbo focuses on biodiversity, such as encouraging animals onto the land and herding bats to eat moths instead of using pesticides. Margaux and Dorian, the fifth generation, run the business, and Dorian is the active winemaker. Arbo's Malbec and Merlot-Cabernet Sauvignon blend are of high quality and low quantity. While Bernadette & Joseph are still on the vineyard, their children Margaux and Dorian have taken the business over, making them the Fifth Generation of Arbos on the land. Dorian is the active winemaker at the cellar today, though Joseph hasn’t completely retired just yet.
