Domaine Serge Laloue has been a family winery since Serge planted the first vines here in the 1960's . Today it is run by his daughter and son, Christine and Franck.
Franck is the winemaker and he perpetrates the Laloue philosophy meaning respect for the soil is paramount as is the realisation that the makeup of the different soils are what give specific flavours and textures to the wines. The Domaine consists of many small plots, the grapes from which are vinified separately, to maintain their distinct characteristics.
Franck Laloue joined the family business in the 1990's and took on the role of closely monitoring the cycle of growing, analysing and studying every detail. He was not satisfied with just technical testing of the grapes, but insists on also tasting regularly to ascertain when they are absolutely right for harvesting. This way, the exact flavour profile he wants in his wines can be achieved.
"An aromatic wine with gooseberry, Cox apple and a hint of green pepper. I love the minerality and the spot-on fruit/acid balance."
"The nose is subtle with a hint of sweet pepper, red apple and lemon. The palate is rich and round yet still has a tangy, fresh character."
"Leafy and mineral nose follows to palate with lemon zest, finishing with a salty tang and mineral streak. Works with bitter leaf salads topped with goats' cheese."

The estate consists of 21 hectares of vines, essentially located in the commune of Thauvenay, 5 kilometres from the town of Sancerre. 16 hectares are planted with Sauvignon Blanc which produce our white Sancerre. The remaining 5 hectares are planted with Pinot Noir grapes that go into the production of our rosé and red Sancerres.
