Vegan wine is wine made without the use of any animal-derived products at any stage of production — most importantly, during fining, the process used to clarify wine before bottling. Traditional fining agents can include substances like gelatine, egg whites, casein (milk protein), or isinglass (derived from fish), all of which are common in conventional winemaking, even though the final wine itself doesn't contain animal products in any noticeable amount.
Vegan wines instead use plant-based or mineral fining agents — such as bentonite clay, pea protein, or activated charcoal — or are simply left unfined, which is increasingly common among natural and minimum-intervention producers. Importantly, a wine doesn't need to be labelled 'natural' or 'organic' to be vegan, and not all natural wines are necessarily vegan, so it's worth checking specifically.
Our Vegan Wine collection brings together bottles that meet this standard across reds, whites, rosés, and sparkling wines, so you can shop with confidence whatever your dietary preferences.
