Danilo Flakus

Danilo Flakus, the winemaker/chief oenologist & general manager at Dveri-Pax in Slovenia:

He joined Dveri-Pax in 1996 as a consultant & vineyard manager & winemaking assistant. By October 2006 (or around then), he became Chief Oenologist/General Manager. He emphasises vineyard health and sustainable practices, with a focus on minimal use of chemical inputs, including the use of organic fertilisation (manure) rather than mineral fertilisers. Trimming and training so that the vines are balanced (not over-vigorous).  Danilo has been involved in restoring old vineyards, terraced land, and reviving neglected vineyards.
