Les Preuses is one of the seven Grand Cru vineyards of Chablis, the northernmost and coolest wine region of Burgundy, France. Chablis Grand Cru wines are made entirely from Chardonnay, but the cool climate and distinctive Kimmeridgian limestone soils — rich in ancient marine fossils — give these wines a character unlike Chardonnay grown anywhere else: razor-sharp acidity, a distinctive flinty, mineral edge, and pure citrus and green apple fruit, with subtle floral and saline notes.
Les Preuses sits alongside the famous Les Clos vineyard and is known for producing wines of great precision and elegance, often with a slightly more floral, perfumed character than some of its Grand Cru neighbours. These are serious, age-worthy white wines that reward patience — many Chablis Grand Crus continue to develop in bottle for a decade or more, gaining honeyed, toasty complexity while retaining their core of mineral freshness.
