The Di Filippo family farms 30 hectares of organically and biodynamically cultivated vineyards above Assisi in the hills of Umbria, and since 2010 has extended their philosophy abroad with La Sapata in Romania — a joint venture focused on organic farming, local community investment and expressing the potential of Romanian indigenous varieties. Roberto Di Filippo has been called 'the oenologist horse whisperer' by local journalists.
