Adega Manuel Formigo is a small, family-run estate in the Ribeiro DO of Galicia, on Spain's Atlantic coast. Working just 4.5 hectares of vines, oenologist Manuel Formigo concentrates on indigenous varieties such as Treixadura, Albarino, Loureira and Torrontes, blended in the traditional Ribeiro style to capture the freshness and mineral character that define wines from this corner of north-west Spain. The vineyards lie close to the Atlantic, where cool, damp conditions and granite-rich soils give the wines their bright acidity and saline edge. Formigo's approach favours a light touch in the cellar - gentle pressing, temperature-controlled fermentation and minimal intervention - allowing the fruit and the place to speak for themselves. Wines Direct brings these bottles directly from the estate to Ireland, giving customers access to a producer that rarely appears outside Galicia. The Formigo white blend and the Finca Teira Blanco are excellent introductions to Ribeiro's white wine tradition: crisp, food-friendly and full of character, lovely alongside seafood, shellfish or simply on their own as an aperitif.
