Rioja DO , Rioja, Spain
Rondan Reserva is made from old vines and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks before being racked into a majority of second hand Bordeaux barrels and a minority of American oak barrels. Aged for three years in barrel and racked three times with a further three years in oak. This is a very balanced, classic and soft wine with warm and juicy flavours.

Rondan is the name of the particular vineyard from which the grapes for these wines are cultivated. This winery has developed a reputation for making exceptional wines at about half the price of other independent producers in the area. The grapes are harvested by hand, and temperatures are kept low during fermentation, again ensuring the freshness of the fruit is maintained.
Both the Crianza and the Reserva have the potential to age for quite a few years. The Reserva is made from the very best grapes in the estate, some from vines over 80 years old. These vines produce small quantities, but it is the concentration and quality of the grapes making this wine outstanding.
"Classic stewed berries with liquorice and vanilla with a woody finish. At peak now."
"Gorgeous, well-defined bright fruit and tannins resolving. Ageing very gracefully."
Bodegas Saenz de Santamaria
Located on the right bank of the river Ebro, our vineyards grow in a microclimate which is ideal for the ripening of the grape for its vinification. Our winery and vineyards are sited in the locality of Cenicero, 20Km from Logroño, one of the great enclaves of the winemaking tradition in La Rioja. To obtain the wines which have the mark of this unique terroir, a huge effort is made in the control and processing of our vineyards, combining tradition and technology. We have 60 hectares of our own vineyards, in which we cultivate principally the grape varieties Tempranillo, Mazuelo, Graciano and the White Viura. One of our wines, RONDAN, is named after one of our vineyards.
