Bender 'I Love Mosel'
Mosel QBA, Germany
"I Love Mosel!” And why not! This wine is made by Andreas Bender for the locals. When you are drinking this wine, you are tasting Mosel. Tropical and lime fruit. Off dry but not a blousy wine. Loads of acidity and freshness bring this wine together and puts some structure to it. Ends in honeyed fruit with loads of freshness.

We are very proud to have German winemaker on our list forthe very first time. For many years, we have been looking fora German winemaker who fits our ethos of independent andquality-focused artisan winemaking. But we knew the winewe dreamt of were out there, so we never stopped looking.
Long hours of research and walking vineyards up and down the Rheingau finally brought us to Andreas Bender, a winemaker we are proud to work with. Andreas is known to other winemakers as “the Maverick of the Mosel”!
Andreas comes from a winemaking family in the Mosel town of Leiwen. He acquired his 35 ha of vineyards in Pfalz and the Mosel bit by bit from family friends or bought from neighbours as the next generation opts out of winemaking. Andreas is a traditionalist: choosing prime soils, hand-selecting grapes, using time-honoured in the cellar and allowing natural fermentation of his fruit.
His contemporary attitude comes through in the Bender label design and his accessible and fun wines. His Pinot Noir and Riesling ably avoid the pitfalls of intimidating new drinkers and boring connoisseurs. Instead, Andreas Bender takes Pfalz and Mosel’s traditional grapes, cool climate, and
slate soils and uses them to create rich, enticing wines that we are genuinely excited about.
"Delicious fresh light Riesling; peaches and tropical fruits with a touch of honey, this is a lively, zingy crisp wine was the perfect aperitif last night. And at 8% you can have a decent glass (or two) without keeling over before dinner."
"New to Wines Direct from a young winemaker — at just 8% abv this has more residual sugar but is still nicely balanced. Stony citrus aromas with a hefty dollop of ripe apple, juicy and soft on the palate with sweet apple fruits and citrus on the finish. This might sound a little sweet for some of you but chill it down and it will work brilliantly with a cheese plate."
"The most important thing for me are first-class grapes from the best locations, traditional winemaking and uncompromising quality.” Andreas Bender
