When the Kioutsoukis family abandoned city life to plant 11 hectares of indigenous Greek varieties near Thessaloniki, they created one of northern Greece's most characterful estates — Assyrtiko, Malagousia, Xinomavro and others farmed by a chemical engineer with a UC Davis winemaking degree.
