Jorge Gonçalves

Jorge studied economics but decided to be a winemaker after completing his degree from one of the best winemaking universities in the world — Geisenheim University in Germany. After his studies, Jorge fled the traditional and went on to travel and work in wineries, cquiring skills and know-how in diverse winemaking cultures throughout the world. It was in South Africa where he experienced the modernity of the New Worldwith the elegance of the Old World. The desire was then born to return to Portugal with his wife, Lívia Novai, todevelop Pessoa wines.

The namesake of Pessoa is inspired by their favourite writer Fernando Pessoa. Lívia is a sommelier trained ingastronomy and former Chef who went on to dedicateherself to the world of wine. Together, they are the people behind the label.
