Grenache Blanc

Grenache Blanc is one of the Southern Rhône's most characterful indigenous white varieties — producing wines of full body, herbal richness and distinctive warm-climate character that complement regional Roussanne and Marsanne blends or stand as impressive single-variety wines in their own right. Wines Direct sources Grenache Blanc from quality-focused independent producers across southern France who showcase this underappreciated variety at its best.

Grenache Blanc is a white grape variety that is a colour mutation of the red Grenache (Garnacha) grape, widely grown across the southern Rhone Valley, Languedoc-Roussillon and Spain, where it is known as Garnacha Blanca. Grenache Blanc produces full-bodied, low-acid white wines with flavours of ripe stone fruit, pear and citrus, often accompanied by herbal, fennel-like notes and a soft, rounded texture. It is a key component of many white blends from Chateauneuf-du-Pape and the southern Rhone, where it adds body and richness alongside more aromatic varieties such as Roussanne and Viognier. While its naturally low acidity means it is best consumed relatively young, careful winemaking and old vines can produce Grenache Blanc wines of real depth and character. Grenache Blanc pairs well with roast chicken, creamy seafood dishes, soft cheeses and Mediterranean fare. Explore our Grenache Blanc wines online at Wines Direct, with delivery across Ireland.
