Givry AOC is a village appellation in the Cote Chalonnaise, part of Burgundy in eastern France, producing predominantly red wines from Pinot Noir alongside smaller quantities of white wine from Chardonnay. Givry has a long history dating back to the Middle Ages and was once a favourite of French royalty, yet today it remains one of Burgundy's lesser-known appellations, offering excellent value relative to more famous villages further north on the Cote d'Or. Givry red wines are typically medium-bodied with bright red fruit flavours of cherry and raspberry, soft tannins and an earthy, savoury character typical of good village-level Burgundy. The appellation includes a number of Premier Cru vineyards capable of producing wines with greater concentration and ageing potential. Givry wines pair beautifully with roast poultry, charcuterie, mushroom dishes and soft cheeses. At Wines Direct, we offer a selection of Givry AOC wines from Burgundy.
