Tempranillo Wines

Tempranillo is Spain's most important indigenous red grape variety — the backbone of Rioja, Ribera del Duero, Toro and many other Spanish appellations, producing wines of elegance, structure and aging potential. In cool Rioja Alta it produces wines of classic elegance and red fruit restraint; in Ribera del Duero on the high meseta it makes more powerful, concentrated wines with dark fruit and firm structure. Tempranillo ages beautifully in oak — the classic Rioja Reserva and Gran Reserva styles use American oak to add vanilla and spice to the wine's natural strawberry, cherry and leather character.
