Abel Francisco Codesso

Bodegas as Laxas has been family-owned since 1863, farming terraced vineyards on the banks of the Padre Miño river in the Condado de Tea zone of Rías Baixas — one of the first wineries to receive Rías Baixas DO status in 1980. Ideal Atlantic conditions and a proud multi-generational tradition of winemaking combine to produce a stellar, intensely aromatic Albariño.

Bodegas As Laxas is a family-run winery in the Condado do Tea zone of Rias Baixas, on the banks of the Mino river in Galicia, Spain. The estate has been in the same family since 1863 and was among the first wineries in the region to receive Rias Baixas DO status, back in 1980. Its vineyards sit on river terraces, where the mild Atlantic climate and granite soils suit Albarino particularly well, giving wines that are aromatic, structured and full of the bright acidity that makes Rias Baixas whites such reliable partners for seafood. At Wines Direct we stock their Val do Sosego Albarino, a wine that shows the freshness and length this part of Galicia is known for. It is a useful bottle to keep on hand for shellfish, white fish or simply as an aperitif, and a good introduction to Albarino for anyone who has only tried the more commercial examples.
