Jean Thevenet and his son Gautier are the Mâconnais's most singular winemakers — given their own entry in the Oxford Companion to Wine for picking weeks later than their neighbours, producing wines that are the very antithesis of mass-market production: rich, complex and utterly individual. These are Pouilly-Fuissé and Mâcon-Villages at their most compelling and thought-provoking.
