BBQ Reds - 6 Bottle Case
Do you have a License to Grill this Bank Holiday? No matter your expertise level, it can still be tricky deciding what wines to have at a BBQ. It is easy to default to the standard go-to beer option. Hey, we like a tasty cold brew as well, but there is nothing like elevating your BBQ with just the right mix of wine. The Bank Holiday BBQ Cases include a red, white, and mixed case that takes all the guesswork away and turns up the heat on your soirée from lit to smoking hot fire. In each case, you will find excellent all-rounder wines that tick many of the boxes needed for whatever you choose to throw on the Barbie.
1x Montelaguna Roble 2018/19 - Ribera Del Duero DO
Montelaguna is one of the highest vineyards in Ribero del Duero. Once you climb up the royal road, you will find this 10 hectare site. Jose de las Heras waits until the last moment to harvest; long ripening ensures ripeness and freshness. Hand-harvested in October, fermentation both alcoholic and malolactic in American oak with wild yeast, before an extra six months in oak. Beautful aromas of violets, blackberries and vanilla.
1x Château la Baronne ‘Les Lanes’ 2018 - Corbières AOP
Carignan, Grenache, Cinsault
This is the original blend of Château la Baronne, as started by Jean Lignéres' parents. It is dominated by their beloved old vine Carignan, which they consider 'the blood of the region'. Everywhere there are herbs, trees, bushes and flowers, all of which contribute to the aromatic expression of this wine — natural yeast, very low sulphites, ageing in neutral terracotta and sandstone amphorae.
1x Bender 2019 - Pfalz QBA
Growing up in the Mosel, it is only natural that one of Andreas’ loves is Pinot Noir (or Spätburgunder as the Germans call Pinot Noir). Grown organically in Pfalz, the fruit is transported to the winery in his home village of Leiwen where it undergoes spontaneous fermentation and is aged in a mixture of stainless steel tanks and oak barrels. This wine is an excellent example of Spätburgunder with charming aromas of red fruits and on the palate, blackberry, spice and cedarwood, ending in a spicy clove finish.
1x Nicodemi ‘Le Murate’ 2018 - Montepulciano D’Abruzzo DOCG
From the sites with the best exposure in the DOCG area of Colline Terramane, longer skin maceration, ageing in stainless steel and some in old oak for 3-4 months, followed by at least a year in bottle before releasing. This results in a complex wine, richly aromatic, which reflects the deep understanding Elena Nicodemi has for her land and her grapes.
1x Maison Plantevin 2020 - Côtes du Rhône AOC
Grenache, Syrah, Carignan, Cinsault, Mourvèdre
Hand harvested and 100% destemmed, pressed, and fermented with natural yeast. Short maceration of 1 to 2 weeks. The light pressed wine is added to obtain the body structure. Luscious aromas of cassis, ripe red fruits, blueberry, and prune. Touch of liquorice and mixed spices.
1x Roca 2019/20 - Mendoza
Roca is a family aair with some of the Malbec grapes over 60 years old. The vineyards are at 700 metres above sea level, with a permanent breeze and cool nights giving this wine complexity and balance, not over-baked, with the Merlot adding a nice touch of ripe plum fruitiness.
