Delle Venezie IGT is a broad geographical designation covering wine produced across the Veneto, Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Trentino regions of northeast Italy, an area that together represents one of the world's largest sources of Pinot Grigio. Wines labelled Delle Venezie IGT are typically light, crisp and easy-drinking, with Pinot Grigio showing characteristic flavours of green apple, pear and citrus, along with refreshing acidity and a clean, neutral finish that has made it hugely popular internationally. While the designation is most strongly associated with high-volume, accessible Pinot Grigio, it also covers other varieties and styles produced across this large and varied northeastern Italian zone. The Delle Venezie IGT designation, introduced relatively recently, was created in part to give Pinot Grigio from this important production area a clearer geographical identity.
