Chianti DOCG

Chianti DOCG is one of Italy's most famous wine appellations, located in the heart of Tuscany and produced predominantly from the Sangiovese grape variety, often blended with smaller proportions of other red varieties. Chianti wines are known for their bright acidity, firm tannins and flavours of red cherry, plum and dried herbs, often with a distinctive earthy, savoury edge that makes them exceptionally food-friendly. Within the broader Chianti appellation, Chianti Classico, identified by its black rooster (Gallo Nero) seal, represents the historic heartland of the zone and tends to produce wines with greater structure and ageing potential, while Riserva designations indicate longer ageing requirements and typically more complex, concentrated wines. Chianti's versatility and quintessentially Tuscan character have made it one of the world's most recognisable and widely enjoyed Italian wines.
