Jérôme and Bruno Vic, pioneers in making wines with respect to the environment, are the OGs in the premium Bag in Box world. Since we introduced their no-frills Le Petit Pont Reserve to the Irish market, it remains a gathering go-to. Boxed wine, also known as bag-in-box, has come a long way from its reputation as a budget option, with many quality producers now using this format for everyday drinking wines that offer genuine convenience and value. The bag-in-box system uses a flexible, vacuum-sealed bag inside a cardboard box, which collapses as wine is poured, preventing air from coming into contact with the remaining wine. This means an opened box of wine can stay fresh for several weeks, far longer than an opened bottle, making it ideal for those who enjoy a glass or two at a time without wanting to finish a full bottle. Boxed wine is also more sustainable, with a significantly lower carbon footprint per litre than glass bottles due to reduced weight and packaging.
