Bret Brothers La Soufrandiere 'La Bonnode' Saint Véran AOC France
Bret Brothers La Soufrandiere 'La Bonnode' Saint Véran AOC France
SKU 11485
Low stock: 5 left
Saint-Véran is the AOC that faces Beaujolais. Even through the fog, you can see Saint-Amour and Juliénas. The difference is terroir—clay and limestone versus granite in the Beaujolais Cru.
'La Bonnode' is a superb parcel of 2 ha, facing east at the foot of the Roche de Vergisson. This is a great terroir for whites, delivering both tension and fruit. This is a Zen cuvée which has no added sulphur until bottling (10mg of SO2 added when bottled).

Jean-Phillipe and Jean-Guillaume Bret
Jean-Guillaume and Jean-Philippe Bret loved coming for holidays to their grandparents' vineyard as children. This love led them to decide to study viticulture and oenology. Having gained experience in the wider wine world for eight years, they returned to Burgundy and took over La Soufrandiere in 2000. They started their own label, Bret Brothers, in 2001. Their ambitious objective adheres to rigorous specifications, using small plots of old vines farmed by passionate vignerons on specific terroirs. This allows them to choose the best grapes from the soils they wish to express. The commissioned grapes are hand-harvested by the two brothers themselves. Many of the vines are old, with some up to 50 years of age. This drives the intensity of flavour that they consistently produce.
