Masson-Blondelet is a family estate in Pouilly-sur-Loire, one of the Loire Valley’s most celebrated appellations — where flinty silex soils give Sauvignon Blanc a gun-smoke minerality found nowhere else in the world. Jean-Michel Masson farms with the rigour of an organic producer, vinifying each terroir separately to preserve the character of each parcel.
The Villa Paulus cuvée, from Kimmeridgian marl — the same limestone and fossil-shell soils found in Chablis — delivers exceptional minerality and richness from extended lees ageing. On the palate, expect flint, citrus zest, white peach, and a long, focused finish driven by the natural acidity of the silex soils.
An honest, estate-grown Pouilly-Fumé from one of the appellation’s most committed family growers. Masson-Blondelet’s wines are among the finest Loire Valley whites available in Ireland — serious Sauvignon Blanc with real character and an authentic sense of place. Excellent with goat’s cheese, grilled fish, oysters, or served as a confident aperitif.

Pierre & Melanie Masson
14 generations of wine producers can be traced through the Blondelet family tree. Such deep-rooted heritage is a fundamental reason behind the quality of Domaine Masson Blondelet, as Jean-Michel Masson and his family have high personal reputations for quality to uphold. They make, bottle and sell their wine from their 21Ha estate in the heart of the Pouilly-Fumé appellation. They are on south and south–east facing slopes, and enjoy a microclimate caused by the river Loire, which protects them from extreme variations in temperature. Today, Jean-Michel’s son, Pierre-Francois, is taking over the reins in the winery while his daughter, Melanie, looks after the sales and administration side of things. From our point of view, it looks like this family affair is set to last a few generations into the future.
