Mâcon is an appellation in the southern part of Burgundy, France, known for producing approachable, well-priced Chardonnay that offers an accessible introduction to white Burgundy. Compared to the more famous (and pricier) Chardonnays of the Côte de Beaune further north, Mâcon wines tend to be fruitier and more straightforward, with flavours of apple, pear, and citrus, and often a touch of floral or honeyed character, usually with little or no oak influence.
Within the broader Mâconnais region, certain villages — most notably Pouilly-Fuissé, Saint-Véran, and Viré-Clessé — are entitled to their own appellations and tend to produce more concentrated, age-worthy wines, while wines simply labelled 'Mâcon' or 'Mâcon-Villages' represent excellent everyday Burgundy at a fraction of the cost of grand cru bottlings.
Our Mâcon collection offers a great way to enjoy authentic white Burgundy without the premium price tag. These wines are versatile at the table, pairing well with poultry, seafood, creamy sauces, and soft cheeses.
