[message]Collection: Stephane Dupuch
Château Sainte-Marie goes back several centuries to when the owner supplied the Abbaye de la Sauve Majeure (one of the most ancient abbeys in France, located just 4 km from the Château). Today, 5th generation winemaker Stéphane Dupuch, whose family has run the winery since 1956, manages the estate with passion, determination, and respect for terroir.
Set right in the heart of Bordeaux this magnificent estate is in the geographically desirable position of Entre-Deux-Mers. Entre-Deux-Mers (“between two tides”) is the area between the two major rivers of Bordeaux (Garonne and Dordogne). The ideally oriented plots stretch over two very sunny hilltops which are among the highest points in the Gironde. Old vines with low yields, including a one-hundred-year-old parcel of semillon, guarantee top-quality production.
The distinctive inherent quality of Château Sainte-Marie wines results from the wide diversity of soils in which their vines are cultivated and the Dupuch organic approach to winemaking. In industrial production, many things can be done to speed up and regularise the process, but at Château Sainte-Marie, they believe the most important virtue is patience.
