Mother's Day Gift Hampers by Siobhan Keogh

I’ve had the pleasure of celebrating many Mothering Sundays as a daughter, a mother, and these days as a grandmother. For Mother’s Day 2022 I was tasked with curating hampers which I suspect the mothers and mother figures of your lives will thank you for, for years to come! I’ve always believed there’s a wine for every occasion but having time to think back on my motherhood journey, I believe there’s a different wine for every different stage in life.

When I look back on the early days of motherhood, the trenches so to speak, I know that the nicest gift I ever received was kindness. After that, it was coffee. Bringing life into the world is as tiring as it is miraculous, and I truly believe that both starting your day deliciously is imperative at this point of parenting.

At the stage where my children could head outside, play with their friends, and come back in for some snacks and hydration, I would take Mother’s Day slowly. Grazing on cheese and crackers throughout the day, sharing bits of my gifted chocolate with the boys when they’d come back inside. These days were a blissful balance of calm and chaos.

Today my children are grown with families of their own. I spend Mother’s Day morning being showered in hugs from two little people with jam on their hands. In the late afternoon we gather around the table for lunch together. We silently take note of those who are no longer sitting with us, and we raise a glass to them.
