This is Vinho Verde but not as you know it. Jorge Gonçalves learned his winemaking in Germany. So when he returned home to Portugal with his sommelier wife Lívia Novais, they decided to make Vinho Verde but single varietal Loureiro and make it Kabinett style. Fermented in stainless steel tanks and the first wine of the summer. Perfectly balanced between sweetness and freshness, lively and elegant. As Jorge said, “Perfect for drinking and looking out over the waves.”

Jorge Gonçalves

Jorge studied economics but decided to be a winemaker after completing his degree from one of the best winemaking universities in the world — Geisenheim University in Germany. After his studies, Jorge fled the traditional and went on to travel and work in wineries, acquiring skills and know-how in diverse winemaking cultures throughout the world. It was in South Africa where he experienced the modernity of the New World with the elegance of the Old World. The desire was then born to return to Portugal with his wife, Lívia Novai, to develop Pessoa wines. The namesake of Pessoa is inspired by their favourite writer Fernando Pessoa. Lívia is a sommelier trained in gastronomy and former Chef who went on to dedicate herself to the world of wine. Together, they are the people behind the label.
