Old World Syrah & Syrah Blends

1 x Domaine de Papolle
Syrah, Merlot 

The Syrah gives the wine an aromatic peppery edge on the nose with a hint of spearmint. Warm red fruit and spices mellowed by the Merlot. Great structure leading to a good finish. It takes Frederic Piffard and his team up to three passes through the vineyard over harvest to ensure that the bunches are at peak maturity before picking begins. Maturation lasts for 10 to 15 days in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks to ensure the wine keeps its subtle fruity flavour. 

1 x Le Bio Balthazar 
Syrah, Grenache 

This clean, fruit driven, full-bodied Minervois is from destemmed bunches fermented with skins for 4 weeks in tank. The colour is a deep ink garnet-red with purple tints. The nose is rich and complex with rosemary, blackcurrant, black cherries and garrigue. It is smooth, well balanced and refreshing. 

1 x Maison Plantevin Sablet Syrah 
Syrah 

Experience the full complement of Rhone red varieties in a flavour tour-de-force. Luscious aromas of cassis, ripe red fruits, blueberry, and prune. Touch of liquorice and mixed spices. 

Hand-harvested and 100% destemmed, pressed, and fermented with natural yeast. Short maceration of 1 to 2 weeks. The light pressed wine is added to obtain the body structure. 

1 x Weingut Kolfok ‘Querschnitt’ 
Rotburger, St Laurent, Blaufränkisch, Syrah 

The word Kolfok has its origins in a regional dialect and describes a younger person who does not tow the line or swims against the tide. Old Rotburger vines were still grafted on their own rootstock. St. Laurent, Blauburger and Blaufränkisch with a touch of Syrah. Fermented with natural yeast in large oak barrels. Blackcurrant with a hint of cinnamon. Intense black forest fruit at the end.

1 x Domaine Bergerie De L'Hortus – Rouge
Mourvedre, Grenache, Syrah 

A beautiful blend of Syrah and Mourvedre from Languedoc. A deep, inky red, with a spicy aroma that leads to dark fruit flavours on the palate. 

From Pic Saint-Loup, protected by the gentle slopes of Mt. L’Hortus, this Syrah is grown on the north-facing slopes to retain its beautiful aromatics. Hand-harvested with natural yeast and maceration in stainless steel tanks for 12 months for the Grenache and Syrah grapes. Mourvèdre is matured in 2-year-old oak barrels. The result is a wine with finesse and fruitiness reflective of its terroir.

1 x Domaine des Remizieres Hermitage Cuvee Emilie 
Syrah  

Wonderful red fruit, cassis, and black plum flavours in this very tannic, granite body of the that is classically styled Hermitage. Black-fruit flavours are pristine and cutting but restrained and delicate tannins in its youth.
