Martin Orliac

Burrowed into the small French village of Saint-Jean-de-Bueges, are the ten entire hectares of Clos du Prieur. Clos du Prieur was lovingly revived in 1999 by Marie Orliac, daughter of Jean Orliac of Domaine de L’Hortus. Coming from an oenological background, Marie went into the vineyard with a wealth of knowledge garnered during her upbringing at Domaine de L’Hortus. But Clos du Prieur is unique. Clos du Prieur exemplifies everything that Languedoc visionaries like Olivier Jullien are fighting for. The vineyard is isolated in a valley which lies between the limestone plateaus of the Seranne and the Larzac. Fermentation at Clos du Prieur happens in concrete tanks, and the process is as natural as possible. The wine Marie Orliac produces here is a blend of Grenache and Syrah, varieties which thrive in the southern French climate. Clos du Prieur is a wine that encapsulates all that Languedoc has to offer. A dynamic wine from a dynamo producer.
