Irene Paiva
Winemaking was a natural choice for Irene. She grew up among the vines on her grandfather’s farm in Chile’s Maule Valley. While an obvious choice for Irene, becoming a winemaker was also daunting as she had to defy the ingrained cultureof machismo. She persevered and has paved the way for women winemakers in Chile. Today, she is often mentioned as one of the most influential business leaders in Chile. Irene continues to work in the Maule Valley of her childhood. The valley is blessed with ideal conditions forher to consistently produce charismatic and intriguing wines. The grapes in her vineyards are hand harvested, sounripe or damaged bunches are removed before they reach the winery. Irene has also committed her Korta brand to the ISO certification for environmental protection.
