Terrana Montepulciano D'Abruzzo.

100% Montepulciano. This wine has unusal depth and weight and is unfiltered. Sweet and smoky with layers of warm dark fruits, Terrana embodies the hillside character of the vineyards surrounding Abruzzo in Italy. Whether you need an accompaniment to Italian sausage or just want a delicious glass of red, this is a very smart play.

Elena & Alessandro Nicodemi

Fattoria Bruno Nicodemi, run by the brother and sister team of Elena and Alessandro Nicodemi, is located in the beautiful rolling hills of Teramo in Abruzzo. The winery was founded in 1970 and run by the sibling duo since 2000 and since then, has been a rising star on the Abruzzo wine scene.

The close proximity to the Adriatic coast to the East with the Apennine mountains to the West, make for an exceptional micro-climate, allowing the grapes to ripen slowly with a high level of concentration which adds to wines’ aroma and full flavour. All grapes are grown organically, harvested by hand and pressed gently with the most modern of technology. The altitude is 300m and the vines are on severe slopes facing south – south east. The elevage of the wine is carried out in French oak.

When I met Elena Nicodemi, I was immediately struck by her boundless enthusiasm and passion for her wines, her land and the family heritage. Both she and her brother are on a relentless quest for quality, which is naturally evident in the wines they produce.

Fattoria Nicodemi

The estate is not just the land but also its climate, the distance of the place from the sea. Specific to Nicodemi and only to them. Nature is fragile yet determined and makes its voice heard. And precisely because they believe ourselves to be country folk, they’ve learned to respect the land. they abide by all the rules that organic farming demands, leaving wild grasses to grow around the rows, oxygenating and enriching the so
