South of France - 6 Bottle Case

**Price Includes Delivery**

Do you like Bordeaux but not always the price? Look no further than the South of France. The combination of terroir and unique varieties result in wines rivalling those of Bordeaux — both in quality and price. The South West of France stretches from the southern edge of Bordeaux right down as far as the Pyrenees. It may not be the most recognized wine region, but it is an absolute treasure trove of hidden gems. The scenery is not bad either – vineyards and lush forest with winemaking as a way of life.

1x Mas Las Cabes 2018/19 – Côtes Catalanes IGP (Organic certified, Biodynamic methods, Vegan)
Grenache Blanc, Vermentino, Macabeu, Muscat

Local grapes are grown here, specific varieties suited to the terroir. The black marl and limestone schist, along with Mediterranean breezes, lends elegance. Hand-harvested, and work in the vineyard is done by horses. While certified organic, some biodynamic soil treatments are used. Natural yeast, maceration on skins for 8 hours, then rests on lees for five months.

1x Domaine de l’Hortus Grand Cuvée 2018/19 – Val de Montferrand IGP (Organic methods)
Chardonnay, Sauvignon Gris, Viognier, Petit Manseng

A "Grand Vin" white is not generally known to come from the south. Yet the comparatively cool climate of Pic Saint Loup leads itself to grow great whites. Blended over the last 25 years in the shade of the L'Hortus cliff by the Orliac family — 40% barrel-fermented Chardonnay, 30% Sauvignon Gris, 20% Viognier and 10% Petit Manseng. The last three varieties are fermented in stainless steel. The wine has richness, with a salty-acidity and a palate of mango with a long mineral lime finish — an excellent wine for any occasion.

1x Antech Cuvée Réserve Brut 2016/17 – Blanquette de Limoux AOP (Organic methods, Terra Vitis)
Mauzac, Chenin, Chardonnay

The first bubbles were born in Limoux, the sparkling created in the local friary was apparently tasted by Dom Perignon and then perfected in Champagne. What makes Blanquette different is 90% Mauzac in the blend, a rare grape grown in only two regions in the South of France. Made in the Traditional method and aged for an average of 18 months. With aromas of spring flowers and subtle flavours of orchard fruits. It is refined and delicate.

1x Domaine Ollier Taillefer Faugères Grande Reserve 2016 - Faugères AOC, Languedoc (Organic certified, Biodynamic certified)
Carignan, Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre

Domaine Ollier Taillefer’s oldest Carignan vines go into this wine, along with Grenache, Syrah, and a little Mourvèdre - all grown organically. It is a real Faugères wine; the flinty nose comes from the local schist soils. On the palate, terroir continues to be the main driver: red berries, liquorice, and garrigue herbs like laurel, juniper, and lavender combine to make this a complex and fascinating wine.

1x Clos du Prieur 2018 - Terrasses du Larzac AOP (Organic methods)
Syrah, Grenache

An ancient terroir which has just been rediscovered. Marie Orliac has restored 4.5 hectares of ancient Grenache and Syrah vines. Between the hills of Larzac and Selle, this high valley is humid and cool, and the grapes ripen very slowly. Made in a renovated cellar, abandoned for three generations, using natural yeast, and aged in restored concrete tanks for the Grenache, the Syrah in oak barrels. The result is a powerful wine, with great intensity, yet elegant.

1x Château la Baronne ‘Les Lanes’ 2017 - Corbières AOP
Carignan, Grenache, Cinsault
This is the original blend of Château la Baronne, as started by Jean Lignéres' parents. It is dominated by their beloved old vine Carignan, which they consider 'the blood of the region'. Everywhere there are herbs, trees, bushes and flowers, all of which contribute to the aromatic expression of this wine — natural yeast, very low sulphites, ageing in neutral terracotta and sandstone amphorae.
