1x Antech Cuvée Réserve Brut – M Le Mauzac
. Blanquette de Limoux AOP (France).
Grapes: Mauzac Blanc.
Antech M Le Mauzac was brought in for the Wine Explorers Club. What makes this Blanquette different is the 100% Mauzac, a rare grape grown in only two regions in the South of France. Françoise Antech-Gazeau is passionate about Mauzac, this purely Occitan grape is part of her DNA. She created this wine to give a boost to the disappearing grape and found it to be more resistant to climate change. A crisp, bone dry sparkling with an array of spring flower aromas and flavours of orchard fruit.
Summer Pairing
: S’mores, fresh pasta salads, soft cheeses, 99's

1x Pessoa - Summer Wine.
Vinho Verde DOC (Portugal).
Grape: Loureiro
This is exactly what it says on the tin! Jorge Gonçalves learned his winemaking in Germany. So when he returned home to Portugal with his sommelier wife Lívia Novais, they decided to make Vinho Verde but single varietal Loureiro and make it Kabinett style. Refreshing and lively with dazzling aromas of passion fruit, lime and spring flowers made to drink while watching the waves crash on the beach.
Summer Pairing:
Fish tacos, mango salsa, ceviche, cilantro-lime chicken.

1x Elías Mora - Contracorriente.
Rueda DO (Spain).
Grape: Verdejo.

Contracorriente, meaning against the tide, is a wine to get you through summer, whatever the weather, and a result of Victoria’s friendship of more than 30 years with Javier Lorenzo Cachazo. It is a gorgeous intense greenish-gold colour with notes of candied citrus peel and an anise-like background over hints of ripe pineapple. A long finish with an aftertaste of fennel and fruit flavours.
Summer Pairing:
Feta and tomato salad, barbecued fish, carnitas or wood-fired pizza.

Red (Chill-worthy)
1x Weingut - Kolfok Querschnitt.
Burgenland (Austria).
Grapes: Rotburger (
Zweigelt), St Laurent, Blaufränkisch, Syrah.
The word Kolfok describes a character who goes against the conventional. Stefan Wellanschitz sees his role as not a “maker” but one who giving the wines freedom so they are not made but become. This trend bucking wine is good fodder at the next family BBQ. The name is a mouthful, but its taste is light with Blackcurrant, a hint of cinnamon and intense black forest fruit at the end.
Summer Pairing:
One of those reds that pair well with fish, particularly shellfish. Try grilled mussels in a tomato-based sauce, Brats, lean red meats, chicken thighs.

1x Quinta das Maias.
Dão DOC (Portugal).
Grapes: Mencia, Touriga Nacional, Alfrocheiro
Maias is the local name for the Weaver's Broom plant, which is in full summer bloom surrounding the Lourenço’s registered Organic estate. The family lead the way in winemaking in the Dão. This wine is more akin to a Beaujolais Cru. Soft succulent red fruit, crème de cassis, a splash of cream, savoury dried herbs, and a deeply refreshing acidity; we love this slightly chilled.
Summer Pairing:
Chicken shish kebab, grilled cauliflower shawarma, lamb and pistachio kofta, Portabello mushroom burger.

1x Domaine de L’Hortus - Le Loup dans la Bergerie
. Pays de l'Hérault IGP (France).
Grapes: Merlot, Syrah, Grenache.

"Le Loup dans la Bergerie", loosely translated, means the wolf in the sheep hold or the wolf in sheep's clothing, but this wolf won't bite. It's light and fruity with smooth tannins and plush, ripe fruit. The Orliac family’s passion for Pic Saint-Loup believes vineyards in this area of the Languedoc are located on fertile soils that produce simple and light wines perfect for summer drinking.
Summer pairing:
Grilled or barbecued red meats, beetroot and walnut salad, grilled garlic and rosemary lamb chops.
