When it comes to winemaking, you won’t find anyone more serious than Jo. He follows the practice of biodynamics. The use of chemical fungicides and other such methods is totally prohibited; fertilisation is with biodynamic compost, and the vineyards are ploughed to reduce competition from weeds. This is not easy work. It would be much easier to spray and forget like many others do but Jo is determined to make the best Muscadet possible with as little “interference” as possible.
Working on the beautiful lands surrounding La Haie-Fouassiere in Sevre-et-Maine, Jo is one of Muscadet’s great winemakers. Using Melon de Bourgogne a variety from the Nantes region, and different types of terroir, he creates his admirable range of wines, ranging from the fruity to the most complex.
Jo’s father, Pierre, established the estate at the end of World War II. Some of the vines planted then still provide grapes for Jo's wines today which are brilliant examples of how different soils can produce completely different wines. He has vineyards dotted on different soil types and the wines produced from these are all labelled separately.
"Fresh and lively with aromas and lingering flavors of flowers, minerals and apples."
Domaines Landron
Located at the top of the Nantes vineyard, on the slopes of La Sèvre, La Louvetrie is a family estate of 45 ha. The richness and originality of its vineyard reside in the diversity of the soils that compose it. Only the cultivation of the soil and the respect of the vine by a biological cultivation without chemical products allow to express their full personality.
