La Bastille - 6 Bottle Case
**Price Includes FREE DELIVERY**
This Bastille Day, join us in raising a glass to all of our French winemakers - real sons and daughters of the soil. Think of wine, and you’ll probably think of France first. We did, and that’s how Wines Direct got started. Among winemaking countries, Our love for France and French wine drove us to find distinctive winemakers from the rest of Europe and the New World, but France will always have a special place at the heart of Wines Direct.
Our Bastille Day case highlights six modern classics from Bordeaux, the Loire, Languedoc and Burgundy.
1x Domaine de la Pirolette Saint-Amour AOC 2018 (Organic Methods, Vegan)
Saint Amour is one of the most exciting and diverse Beaujolais Cru with pink granite in Fleurie and blue volcanic soil in Côte du Py. Spontaneous fermentation using the Chapeau method, then nine months on lees in a combination of egg amphorae and stainless steel tanks. Leading to dark ruby colour with intense perfumed dark berry, cherry liqueur and liquorice scents and a lengthy finish.
1x Château Peyredon Lagravette 2018 - Cru Bourgeois Haut-Médoc AOC (Organic Methods)
Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot
Stéphane Dupuch from Sainte-Marie always dreamed about owning a vineyard on the Left Bank. It was in 2009 that this magical piece of property found Stéphane. The Lagravette is a blend of 60-year-old Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, organically grown on the Grand Poujeaux hill and the finished wine is aged for 12 months in oak barrels that are made from the forest that lines the property. Complex blackberry and raspberry, with toasty spice and a rich mouthfeel.
1x Château la Baronne ‘Cayrelières’ 2019 - Vin de France (Organic and Biodynamic Certified, Vegan)
Cayrelières is Occitan for stones. This Cuvée is named for the wild and rugged valley where the vines are grown. Hand-harvested and fermented on skins in stainless steel tanks for 12 days. This bottle is non-filtered, with added SO2. The result is a wine with fresh red berries, medium-bodied that will transport you to the peaceful place of its origin, le Vallon des Cayrelières. It is a perfect pairing with white meats or a charcuterie board.
1x Domaine de Nancelle Mâcon-Villages AOC 2019 (Organic Methods)
In 1985 Patrick and Nathalie Corsin took over this estate. Now Patrick and his son run the vineyard. They use extra hang time, hand harvesting and ferment in stainless steel tanks. The result is fresh citrusy scents, with opulent peach and cantaloupe flavours.
1x Temps de Lune 2019 – Vin de France (Organic and Biodynamic Methods)
Temps de Lune (“time of the moon”) is made by the Courselle sisters and harvested and vinified while considering the Biodynamic Lunar Calendar and favouring ‘Fruit Days’. It is 100% Sauvignon Blanc and fermented in stainless steel tanks. It is a new take on Entre-Deux Mers using the Vin de France label. A clean natural style wine with green fruit and a hint of oxidative nuttiness. Very gluggable.
1x Domaine Jousset ‘Vilain P’Tit Ch’nin’ 2019 - Vin de France
Lise and Bertrand Jousset have crafted a delightful dry Chenin from their vines in Anjou. Naturally fermented in barrels of 400 and 600 litres for ten months. The palate is vibrant and refreshing with green apple, pear and saline mineral flavours then a hint of brioche with firm acidity in the bright, clean finish. This is a delicious aperitif and a versatile accompaniment for anything from sole to sushi.
