DOMAINE SERGE LALOUE x1
Sancerre AOC, France
"Substantial, elegant, lovely lime and cox apple fruit with an extended finish."
Ernie Whalley, The Sunday Times
CHATEAU DE NANCELLE x1
Macon Villages AOC, France
"A Chardonnay with all the lively acidity of Burgundy, the very antithesis of the over-oaked, over-ripe stuff from the New World that got the grape a bad name. Elegant, crisp, fresh with a hint of honey but very dry. A proper white wine for food."
Tom Doorley, The Mail on Sunday
MAS LAS CABES x1
Cotes Catalanes AOC, France
Grenache Blanc, Vermentino, Macabeu, Muscat
Fine scents of white flowers and lemon zest with typical light, fresh flavours, as well as a whisper of limey tang. Gorgeous.
CHATEAU PUY CASTERA x1
Haut Medoc AOC, France
Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc
"With a perfume of violets and the characteristic note of pencil shavings, this Bordeaux, from a family-owned estate in the Médoc is made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, giving it flavours of blackcurrant leaf and black plum."
Corinna Hardgrave, The Irish Independent
DOMAINE DES TERRES DOREES L'ANCIEN x1
Beaujolais AOC, France
"No basic Beaujolais here. Cherry and violet aromas, a plummy palate and a pepper finish."
Martin Moran (MW), The Sunday Times
CHATEAU SAINT ESTEVE TRADITION x1
Uchaux AOC, France
"Rich velvety smooth plum fruits and an easy rounded finish. Perfect with red meats."
John Wilson, The Irish Times
Domaine Serge Laloue has been a family winery since Serge planted the first vines here in the 1960's . Today it is run by his daughter and son, Christine and Franck.
Franck is the winemaker and he perpetrates the Laloue philosophy meaning respect for the soil is paramount as is the realisation that the makeup of the different soils are what give specific flavours and textures to the wines. The Domaine consists of many small plots, the grapes from which are vinified separately, to maintain their distinct characteristics.
Franck Laloue joined the family business in the 1990's and took on the role of closely monitoring the cycle of growing, analysing and studying every detail. He was not satisfied with just technical testing of the grapes, but insists on also tasting regularly to ascertain when they are absolutely right for harvesting. This way, the exact flavour profile he wants in his wines can be achieved.
